Apple's iPhone 7 and 7 plus : Enhancements in camera, display, memory, WiFi and black in color
Apple introduces their latest iPhone 7 and 7 plus on October 7 offering new features such as better cameras, expand system wide haptics in iOS 10 with a new solid state Home button and Taptic engine, wide color and other major Retina HD technology improvements without a change in their display resolutions, and adding new water resistance and including updates to system components ranging from RAM storage to wireless capabilities.
Moreover, the latest iPhone 7 and 7 plus are faster than
iPhone 6/6s, the world’s top selling smartphone. The new iPhone 7 models are slightly lighter and unchanged in size as compared to iPhone 6. While the standard iPhone weighs 138 grams, iPhone 7 plus weighs 188 grams.
The major categories of enhancements in the latest version are as follows:-
1. New rear and face Time cameras and lenses with optical image stabilization
for more detailed low light photos and smoother videos.
2. Wide color Retina HD Display.
3. Louder new stereo speakers paired with lightning and wireless audio.
4. Enhanced wireless connectivity that supports faster, feature enhanced LTE Advanced mobile and MIMO WiFi, and new IP67 dust and Liquid intrusion resistance.
5. A significantly improved A10 Fusion Applications processor providing enhanced speed and efficiency paired with 3GB of RAM and longer batteries of an extra hour of two of use.
6. A newly harmonized Home button and 3D Touch haptic user interface paired with an enhanced Taptic Engine actuator.
Now let’s look closely at the enhancements of features in detail.
New cameras, ISP, OIS, dual lens 7 plus with telephoto lens.
Apple’s Image Signal Processor, one of the significant engines built into the A10 Fusion without getting a brand name or designation such as “ ISP10”, is one of the most important aspects of the phone’s new camera architecture, because this custom silicon delivers a great deal of the enhancements and capabilities of front facing and rear cameras.
The electronic eyes of iPhone 7 wide open along with an enhanced ISP let in more light on its 12 megapixel rear camera sensor. The rear camera boasts an aperture of f/1.8 now, and also a new six element lens is provided in the iPhone 7 rear camera.
OIS uses micromotors to adjust the lens position for counterbalancing the slight movements while composing or taking a phone so that the phone can use a larger aperture and shoot with exposure times up to three times longer without a motion blur. An f/2.8 aperture is used by the new telephoto lens on iPhone 7 plus for its own 12 megapixel sensor. And also, iPhone 7 offers a series of larger leaps in cameras and processing power greater than those introduced in the blockbuster iPhone 6.
The rear True Tone flash is upgraded in the phones that doubles the number of L.E.D. elements; two warm amber and two cool white.
As a result of Apple’s enhancement of live photos, users can now crop a Live photo without losing the live part, essentially capturing a low frame rate video clip a second and a half before and after the shutter is snapped. By default, video is saved along with the full quality photo. But with the use of tiny plastic lenses, light refraction, lens flares and bright point artifacts continue to be a problem on iPhone 7.
Wide color Retina HD Display.
The displays of iPhone 7 and 7 plus models are radically enhanced with very high contrast ratios, very low reflectance and peak brightness levels above 700 nits. Not only the displays but the cameras of both models now support wide color as defined by the Digital Cinema Initiatives P3 color gamut specification. This peculiarity is not visible on most of tablets, phones, PCs or note books available now in the market.
While the Retina HD Display of 4.7 inch iPhone 7 has a 1334 by 750 or “ 1 mega pixel” resolution, the Retina HD Display of the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 plus has a 1920 by 1080 or “ 2 mega pixel” resolution.
Lightning, wireless audio, Stereo speakers, WiFi MIMO, Faster LTE Advanced.
iPhone 7 models, with Lightning earbuds and a lightning to minijack adapter, are introduced with wireless Airpods. Users can use Apple bundled earbuds or use other corded headphones with supplied Lightning to minijack adapter, if they stay wired. But without using a Dock, or getting a third party splitter cable, users can’t charge and listen at the same time.
New inbuilt stereo speakers are also introduced in iPhone 7 models, one in the base and the other in the ear piece that generates twice the volume for listening to music, watching videos, playing games or using on speaker phone. Its inbuilt audio helps users play casual music at leisure times without a separate speaker, and also its sound quality is good.
iPhone 7 supports the same WiFi spec as iPhone 6s: 802.11 ac with multiple antenna MIMO technology supporting wireless speeds of up to 866 MHz, twice the maximum of iPhone 6.
IP67 Dust and Liquid Resistance.
Upgrading iPhone 7 models to a full IP67 rating for dust and liquid intrusion resistance, the rubber seals and gaskets in the case itself and around connectors inside the device have also been improved. So the users can actually film under water. But the deeper the phone is taken into pool, the more pressure goes up on the seals, as water is heavy. So it is recommended to use a water light case, as it is not for swimming up and taking under water pics. It is also to be remembered that a capacitative screen doesn’t work in water.
A 10 Fusion, more memory, Battery.
The A 10 Fusion Application processor is supposed to boast up to a 40% leap in CPU power over A 9 and also its GPU is upto 50% faster. The iPhone 7 and 7 plus double their NAND storage capacities by making 32 GB the new entry point and including 128 GB options. As NAND flash memory doesn’t require power to store its data, the NAND storage capacities don’t have an impact on battery life.
3D Touch, Taptic Engine, iOS 10 haptics & new Home Button
As the force touch on Apple watch, iPhone 3D Touch employs Taptic Engine actuator to deliver haptic feedback. The application of 3D Touch as part of a continnum involving variable multi touch input and haptic feedback are greatly expanded by the new iOS 10. A layer of subtle skin feedback that can give the users a feeling of touching a hard flat screen as familiar, emotive and intuitive as interacting with organic being or maniputlating a mechanical device.
With a bigger Taptic Engine, capable of providing both precise and more intense haptic feedback, the new iPhone 7 models reinforce 3D Touch gestures. The use of haptics in iOS 10 is expanded and the audio settings are labeled as " Sounds and Haptics "
Subtle tap feedback for " system controls and interactions" is provided by System Haptics in iOS 10, including when virtual switch is turned on or off.
Ranging from a basic buzz to the more incessant "Rapid" , with an SOS Signal or a half dozen other programmed haptic sequences, iOS 10 allows the users to assign various system events such as an incoming call, new e-mail, Air Drop, reminder alerts along with not just an audio alert ( dings, boops and bleeps ) or ring tone ( short sequences of notes or other sound effects ), but also a custom vibration.
Users can also set up their own vibration by tapping out a sequence - basically silent haptic ringtone. They can also assign a custom haptic vibration to a contact so that they will be alerted with their own person tap sequence, whenever they get a call.
On the other hand, that sort of haptic message can be sent in iOS 10's New Digital Touch. The Digital Touch taps and heartbeats only show up as visuals on iPhone 7. The users get a haptic alert of an incoming message without feeling the taps or heartbeats and also there is no haptic reinforcement of fire falls or kisses or broken hearts if the phone is set to silent.
The hapticbacked 3D Touch now makes its way into the new solid state Home Button that makes it easier to achieve dust and liquid intrusion resistance.

* Assuring great battery life even when L.T.E. 4 G is used.
* The efficient Fast A 10 Fusion chip gives an extra hour or two of battery.
* The enhanced better cameras deliver better photos, dual camera plus is certainly versatile
Negatives.
* Giving no support for higher quality camera optics.
* The phone can't be charged by using wired headphones as there is no headphone jack.
The 98 percentage positives outshine the negatives and so I can assure you that the iPhone 7 and 7 plus will surely give you a wonderful experience.
